Recently, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education released the list of universities for the construction of Jiangsu Province College of Engineer Excellence, selecting and recognizing 15 universities as “Jiangsu Province College of Engineer Excellence Construction Universities”, and NJUPT was successfully approved.

　　Engineer Excellence is an important part of the national strategic talent force. The Party and the country attach great importance to the cultivation of excellent engineers, take the construction of National College of Engineer Excellence as an important hand, innovate the cultivation mode of engineer excellence, deepen the reform of the cultivation system of engineering master's degree and doctor's degree in industry-teaching integration, and comprehensively improve the quality of independent cultivation of engineer excellence. Jiangsu Province focuses on the urgent needs of the national strategy and the urgent needs of the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry in the province, effectively mobilizes the enthusiasm of colleges and universities and enterprises, gives full play to the advantages of scientific research, platforms, talents, etc., and pushes forward the reform of cultivating engineers of excellence, and builds a batch of Jiangsu Engineer Excellence Colleges with a high starting point and high quality.

　　During the two sessions, General Secretary Xi Jinping, when participating in the deliberations of the Jiangsu delegation, pointed out that it is necessary to firmly grasp the primary task of high-quality development, and develop new quality productivity according to local conditions. Governor Xu Kunlin emphasized during his research in NJUPT that it is necessary to carry forward the characteristic advantages, plough into the field of information, and contribute the power to accelerate the development of new quality productivity in Jiangsu. NJUPT is a national “double first-class” construction university with distinctive characteristics of electronic information. In 2023, the School of Engineer Excellence was established, which operates physically and carries out the management mode of “three offices and five centers”, and the school is the only one in the provincial universities that possesses the professional degree authorization points of doctoral and master's degrees of engineering and electronic information engineering at the same time. The university is the only provincial university that has both doctoral and master's degree authorization points of electronic information engineering. The construction of the School of Engineering Excellence relies on the double first-class disciplines of “electronic science and technology” and eight provincial advantageous disciplines, and the “five-in-one” large information discipline system has distinctive features. There are more than 10 national teaching and scientific research platforms such as national key laboratories and national local joint engineering centers, 44 innovation platforms jointly built by schools and enterprises, and an industry-teaching fusion institute with Nanjing Pukou Hi-Tech Zone, which vigorously pushes forward the “one city, one institute, one feature”, “one technology, one enterprise, one platform”, “school-enterprise collaboration” and “school-local-school-enterprise collaboration”. The university has vigorously promoted the “one city, one institute, one feature” and “one technology, one enterprise, one platform” collaborative innovation strategies, and constructed a multi-dimensional and three-dimensional system of cooperation between the industry, academia and research.

　　NJUPT will focus on the needs of Jiangsu Province's “1650” industrial system and “51010” strategic emerging industry clusters, and continue to promote excellence in education in accordance with the ideas of “general goal leading, dual-platform driving, three elements reconstruction, four synergistic guarantee, and five-center support”. The construction of College of Engineer Excellence is continuously promoted according to the idea of “general goal leading, three elements reconstructing, four synergistic guarantee, five center support”. It focuses on promoting the reconstruction of cultivation program, tutor team and evaluation system, reconstructing the cultivation process; strengthening the four synergistic guarantees to smooth the cultivation chain; inheriting the red gene, carrying forward the blue tone of information, red and blue integration, multi-dimensional interaction, strengthening the school-enterprise think-specialized synergy, industry-education synergy, disciplinary synergy and the international synergy of the nurturing mechanism, constructing a new paradigm of joint cultivation of engineering master and doctoral degree, and training a large batch of outstanding engineers and leaders of the electronics and information industry. The construction cycle of Jiangsu Province College of Engineer Excellence will last for one year.

　　The construction cycle of Jiangsu Province College of Engineer Excellence is 5 years, and the Provincial Department of Education will evaluate the construction effectiveness of the college through annual report and assessment, focusing on the achievements and contributions of the college in the aspects of operation mechanism, talent cultivation, scientific research and innovation, social service, etc., and give financial awards and subsidies to the construction colleges and universities in conjunction with the evaluation situation. Jiangsu Province College of Engineer Excellence will strive to become a source of electronic information technology innovation, a new high ground for training information engineering technology talents and a main position for transforming electronic information achievements.
